1. Stretch before you start hitting, esp your joints. (You don’t want to wake up the next morning having body pains)
2. Warm up. (Hit shuttles with your opponent, just to warm up your body)
3. Stay on the middle at all times. (The line in between the two boxes for singles; and the middle of your domain for doubles)
4. Stay sharp on your opponent’s action. (Do not haste to move based on your expectation; sometimes your opponent will wait for that mistake to deceive you.)
5. Good footwork is part of the winning computation. (WIN = FOOTWORK + STRATEGY + STAMINA)
6. Avoid smashing if not in the right situation. Smashes consume alot of energy; so be wise to do a smash.
7. Relax — It will make you feel more comfortable playing. :) Enjoy! Trust me
8. After a rally, check the mistake you did or your opponent’s to let your instinct know that it is a mistake.
9. After the game, make sure you learned something from your game and improve yourself. Improving is something you must look forward to, otherwise, do not play anymore; you’ll end up in disappointment.
10. Stretch after the game/side trainings. (A lot of people forget to stretch after. This is important to let your body cool down.)
* You can do extra training after the games: shuttle run, push-ups, crunches, jumping with a jumping rope, etc.
